Kreul
Classic
The Kreul is one of the premier high school basketball tournaments in
the country. Featuring 16 boys and 16 girls teams, the 18 year old event
is regarded as a model of excellence by which other tournaments gage their
performance. Exceeding the scope of most high school tournaments by integrating
diverse components such as celebrity guest motivational speakers, team
functions and individual contests, the Kreul delivers a comprehensive
experience for participants.
Regionally Televised Coverage
The Kreul differentiates itself from other competitions as it is the only
tournament in the nation to offer regionally televised coverage of the
boys and girls championship games. This provides an impressive opportunity
for top contenders to showcase their hardwood skills and benefit from
the exceptional exposure provided by Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS.)
Celebrity Alumni
Through the years, many high-profile sports celebrities have supported the
Kreul. Starting with Chuck Daly during his stint at the helm of the first
Olympic Dream Team in 1992, the Kreul has delivered a first string line-up
of motivational speakers to share their words of wisdom in an intimate
setting with the players. Other alumni include Lou Carnesecca, Brian Hill,
John Salley, Tubby Smith, Kevin Loughery, Jack Ramsay, Tony Fiorentino,
Hank Goldberg, Joe Rose, Matt Doherty and longtime tournament friend Jack
McKinney.
Academic
Scholarships
Education is a core component of the Kreul philosophy. To date, more than
$460,000 in academic scholarship have been awarded to South Florida students.
This includes 40 full-tuition awards to Florida Atlantic University, and
more than 100 monetary awards in varying amounts.
Kreul Partners
in Education include AF Best Securities Foundation, Inc.; The School Board
of Broward County and Florida Atlantic University.
Community Philanthropy
The Kreul is involved in many community endeavors. From small scale
efforts such as fundraising to assist with an individual's medical
expenses to attracting nationally recognized events which deliver a
significant economic beneift to our area, the Kreul is a leader in the
community.
The
Administration
The Kreul Classic is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization administered solely
by volunteers. The operation functions under a volunteer board of directors
who meet regularly to set and maintain the exceptional standards of the
event. Their involvement is motivated by their love of the game and a
strong desire to provide opportunities for our youth. While many of the
board members initially got involved in the Kreul through their kids,
at this time, none of them have a child who participates. The board members
stay involved because they love the Kreul and the added benefit it provides
our community.
Get
Involved
It is Kreul policy not to solicit private donations. Instead, the organization
exists primarily on sponsorship and advertising support and game attendance.
Custom sponsorship opportunities including television, print, signage,
tickets, hospitality and promotion are enjoyed by many long-standing sponsors.
Please contact us if your company is interested in a marketing opportunity
with a fully integrated and comprehensive benefits package or advertising.
The Kreul
also welcomes individuals to get involved in this rewarding experience. Be
it as a one-time volunteer during the tournament or on a tournament
committee, your assistance is welcome.
